Every year on February 6th a supporter-led memorial service takes place at Manchesterplatz, the site of the crash in Munich. This service is organised and led by the MMMF. Part of the service is laying a wreath and reading out the names of the 23 people who died in the tragedy. Since 2018 the role of laying the wreath and reading out the names has been undertaken by the Fan’s Representative.
Each year the MMMF invite people to nominate themselves to attend the service as a Fans Rep. The two people (a teenager and accompanying adult) are selected at random via a draw at the MMMF Annual Gala Dinner. Thanks to the generosity of our sponsor, Headley Media Ltd, the cost of return flights to Munich and two nights hotel accommodation in Munich will be paid for.
The draw for the 2024 Fans Rep was made at the 2023 MMMF gala dinner by Manchester United’s Head of Fan Engagament, Rick McGagh. Our congratulations go to the successful applicant Alan Egan and his daughter Sarah. We look forward to you joining us in Munich next February
