At the MMMF dinner on Friday 17 October, Bishop Auckland FC were awarded the Munich ribbons in recognition of their magnanimous actions following the 1958 Munich tragedy. United still had to complete their fixtures and were struggling to put out a team. At the time BAFC were known as the Kings of Amateur Football, without hesitation they loaned three players to United, Warren Bradley, Derek Lewin, and Bob Hardisty. It was a tremendously generous and honourable action. Bradley later signed for United and became an England international.

We were delighted to present the Munich ribbons to Stephen Newcomb and Terry Jackson, two of the four strong party from BAFC, John Rowell and John Phelan were also in attendance. Thank you Bishop Auckland FC, may the relationship between the two clubs grow even stronger.
