A fantastic turnout of an estimated 800 plus supporters attended the Munich service in Manchesterplatz for the 67th anniversary of the 1958 air disaster. It was particularly pleasing to see numerous young people attending because they are the generation to take this forward in the future. Andrew Cole attended on behalf of United and was happy to engage with all who attended. Nothing was too much trouble. The audio technician, who had been booked by the Red Docs of Munich, was sadly unable to get to the service on time. We apologise to those of you at the back that struggled to properly hear the service. We will take back up equipment with us next year.
Thank you, your support of what is a very important part of the history of Manchester United makes us proud to be a part of it. As more supporters attend each year, it is important to remind everybody that Manchesterplatz should be respected for what it is, a place for us to remember. Please refrain from drinking alcohol or even bringing it to the area. The residents of Manchesterplatz fondly talk of their love for United fans attending the service. It only takes a handful of people to change that view, thank you to the 99.9% who behaved impeccably
Huge thanks to Suzanne from Salford Royal Hospital for attending to the elderly gentleman who fell ill at the service. He was released from hospital the same day after hospital tests were clear. He is already making plans to come to the service next year.
The video and photos were supplied to us by David Featherstone, Anthony Savery, and Manchester United. Thank you.
