Rosemary and Ron Blakeley live in North Carolina in the USA. Rosemary (nee Cheverton) was a stewardess on the fateful flight BEA 609 from Belgrade to Munich to Manchester. It was Rosemary who Harry Gregg handed the young 18 month old toddler, Vesna Lukic, to in the immediate aftermath of the Munich air crash.

Rosemary recently appeared on the documentary “The United Way”, and our Chairman, Pat Burns, reached out to her to open discussions on the possibility that Rosemary would like to attend one of our fundraising dinners as a guest speaker. This is, hopefully, going to happen in 2022 and only for the pandemic, resulting in fraught travel, would have been in October 2021.

In the meantime, Ron very kindly sent us a catalogue of memorable moments from the 50th anniversary of the Munich air disaster when they both attended the service at Old Trafford. This also includes images of the official opening of the Munich tunnel.

We hope you enjoy seeing these and are very grateful to Ron and Rosemary for sharing these wonderful images with us. We look forward to meeting them both very soon.
