It is with tremendous pride, real delight and great honour that we can announce that the inaugural Honorary President of our Charity is the one and only Mr. BRIAN KIDD.
Our Chairman, Pat Burns, approached Brian (through Alan Wardle at the Association of Former Manchester United Players AFMUP) to ask him if he would do us the huge honour of becoming our first ever President.
After a series of in-depth discussions and meetings about the Charity, Brian was delighted to accept our Chairman’s offer.
Brian (Kidd) is a former Busby Babe and goalscorer in the famous European Cup Final win of 1968, when Sir Matt Busby and Jimmy Murphy brought us to the pinnacle of success following the tragedy of Munich in 1958.
The 4-1 (after extra time) victory over Benfica, at Wembley, secured our iconic status as the first English club to win the European Cup and at the same time, secured Brian’s hero and legendary status on what was his 19th birthday.
Brian joined the clubs academy in 1964, turning professional in 1966. He scored 52 times in 203 league appearances for Manchester United
Pat said “We wanted to have a President who really knows about our football club, our history, us fans, and who understands the importance of the legacy of The Babes. I honestly couldn’t think of a better fit than Brian. He is a true die-hard red, he is in fact just like us.
We are truly honoured that Brian has accepted the position. Having Brian as our President adds a level of Prestige and a layer of surety and confidence to our donors and fans, knowing that such a hero and legend of our Football Club is proud to be associated with us”.
Brian stated “When Patrick wrote to me, I read his letter and was honoured and truly humbled to be asked to be the Honorary President of this wonderful fan led charity.

So thrilled and delighted that Brian has accepted this honour. Brian’s career with United was amazing and scoring a brilliant goal in the 1968 European cup final must be a very treasured memory for a nineteen year old.
