Thank you to all who attended the Munich Remembrance Service at Manchesterplatz in Trudering, Munich. Hundreds of people paid their respects to the 23 people who lost their lives as a result of the tragedy on February 6th 1958. The service and 2 minute silence were impeccably observed by all. Prior to the Munich service, the MMMF, FC Bayern Munich and Manchester United paid their respects to Franz Beckenbauer. The footballing legend, who passed away on 7 January 2024, was a great supporter of the MMMF’s work in preserving the legacy of the Busby babes and all the victims of the Munich air disaster. Mike Phelan represented United, Franz Roth, scorer of a goal in the European Cup final against Leeds, represented FC Bayern and 8 members of the MMMF paid their respects.
