It is with great pride, delight and honour that we can announce that we have appointed a new Patron to our Charity, Mr. John Aston Jnr.
Our Chairman, Pat Burns, approached John through the AFMUP to ask him if he would do us the huge honour of becoming a Patron, and John was delighted to accept. He joins Jane GREGG and Nick MURPHY, as existing Patrons, adding to our reputation as a Charity run by fans for the Manchester United family.
John was a Busby Babe and was a forward who rose through the Manchester United youth system. His debut for the club came in 1965 against Leicester City. He went on win the 1967 League championship as well as the 1968 European Cup, where he was man of the match in the final against Benfica at Wembley Stadium on 29 May 1968. John scored 27 goals in 187 appearances.
Pat said “We wanted to appoint a Patron who really knows our football club, our history, our fans and who understands the importance of the legacy of The Busby Babes. John is all of these things, and more.
We are truly honoured that John has accepted the position and it adds such tremendous value to the reputation and standing of our Charity”.
This is a huge and very appropriate addition to the foundation; maintaining the connections, history and honouring the past. Excellent!
Fantastic addition to the cause Welcome
A well deserved recognition for John, and further cementing the excellent reputation of MMMF.
