It is with great pride, delight and honour that we can announce the appointment of our fourth Patron to the Charity, Manchester United’s Director of Academy, Mr. Nick Cox.

Our Chairman, Pat Burns, had approached Manchester United to ask if they would provide candidate names to be considered for a Patron role, thus further strengthening the relationship between the Charity and the Club.

Nick was suggested by Manchester United following conversations on how we engage and educate our younger players and fan base on the history of the club. It became clear very quickly that, as Head of our Club’s Football Academy and responsible for the development of all young players up to and including the Under 21’s, there was a huge resonance with his role and the history and legacy of The Babes.

Nick now joins Jane GREGG, Nick MURPHY and John ASTON Jnr as existing Patrons, further adding to our reputation as a Charity run by fans for the Manchester United family.

Pat said: “We wanted to appoint a Patron from within the club. Strengthening the links between the Charity and the Club and cementing our future as trusted and respected partners. A Patron who really knows our football club, our history, our fans and who understands the importance of the legacy of The Busby Babes.

“Through his work with the youth of Manchester United Nick is all of these things, and more.

“We are delighted that Nick has accepted the position and it adds such tremendous value to the reputation of our Charity”.

Nick Cox, Director of Academy at Manchester United, stated: “I was delighted to be considered and then formally approached for the role of Patron at Manchester Munich Memorial Foundation – my work at the Manchester United Academy has a synergy with our history of Sir Matt Busby, Jimmy Murphy and The Busby Babes.

“It is my job, in part, to make sure that our youth players fully understand and embrace the great legacy and history of our Football Club – which includes the great work of MMMF to preserve the memory of The Busby Babes.”
