After three years of service as a trustee of the MMMF, Des Grogan is stepping down due to personal commitments.

During his time with the MMMF he has given his time generously and represented the charity with real care, loyalty, and integrity. Behind the scenes he has been a steady pair of hands and steadfastly supported the MMMF and our charities. Fortunately for us, Des is not disappearing entirely. He will remain part of the MMMF family as a member, which means we will still benefit from his support and experience. Everyone at the MMMF would like to place on record our sincere thanks to Des for the time, effort and commitment he has given over the past three years. The Foundation is stronger for his contribution.

Des said…

“I was born to be a red. One of my earliest memories is the framed photo of a football team with 8 of the players heads circled which hung above my parents bed. My father adored The Babes in particular. As an Irishman, he loved Liam Whelan but would always tell me Duncan Edwards was our greatest player ever. Dad took me to my first game in 1962 and even though we lost I was well and truly hooked. So it was an absolute honour to be invited to become a trustee of the MMMF and give a little back in memory of Dad’s team.

It has been a pleasure to work alongside the other Trustees and committee members for the past three years. A lot of hard work goes into making the MMMF the success it has become enabling the anniversary to be commemorated each year in Munich and raising monies to support our charities in Manchester, Munich and Belgrade.

I am stepping down now for personal reasons and to give someone else the opportunity to work with some marvellous diehard Reds to enhance and preserve the memories of the Busby Babes

So thanks to Ifty and all the members of the MMMF .. it’s been my privilege”
