The pedestrian bridge in Barnsley town centre has been renamed the ‘Tommy Taylor Memorial Bridge’ in memory of the Busby Babe. On 14th November 2024, Brian Kidd, Brian Mulholland and Ifty Ahmed represented the MMMF at the ceremony whilst Alex Stepney represented United. Prince Edward, Duke of Edinburgh attended the unveiling in a fitting tribute to a great player. Members of Tommy’s family proudly observed the ceremony.

Brilliant! But what about the other Barnsley babe, Mark Jones? Along
with his daughter, we believe his memory is neglected in the Barnsley
area, and a group of us including his daughter and other family members
have just met to consider how we can remedy that. There is a plaque
from his old school, a small mention on the Tommy Taylor bridge, but we want to
do more.
So far, trying to fix a sportsnight, a local game named after
him with the aim of a blue plaque in Wombwell and the school plaque in
Darfield. Our fundraising plans are in their infancy but can you help
us in one way or another?
