We would like to thank all the United supporters who travelled to Bishop Auckland FC on Saturday to remember the assistance the club provided to ours in the aftermath of the crash in 1958 – the North Eastern amateur club loaned United three players during the aftermath of the Munich air tragedy of 1958 when they were struggling to fulfil their fixtures after losing eight players in the crash.

The trip was ably organised by the internationally loyal David Pye with transport from Mostonian Manchester. The roaring voices of travelling Reds – including several MMMF volunteers and supporters – paid tribute to a friendship that has stood the test of time.

Everyone who attended said they were welcomed with open arms and many more of us are expected to experience their hospitality on the terraces soon.
